First determine if your chosen research article(provided in the files) is either an empirical or argumentative article. Then, answer the following questions in a Word document.
For Empirical Articles (these are articles in which the authors collect their own data):
Answer the following questions:
1. What is the topic?
2. What is the research question?
3. What are the predictions and the rationale for these predictions?
4. What methods were used:
1. How many participants are in the study?
2. What are the demographics of the participants?
3. What is the study procedure?
5. What were the variables and controls?
6. What were the main results?
7. Are the findings supported by previous research?
8. What are the limitations of the study?
9. What are the implications or applications of the findings?
10. Is there anything that you find surprising or interesting from the article?
For Argumentative or Review Articles (these are articles in which the authors don’t collect their own data):
Answer the following questions
1. What is the topic?
2. What is the research question? In other words, what is the author trying to find out about that topic?
3. How does the author position his/her article in relation to other studies of the topic?
4. What is the thesis or position?
5. What are the supporting arguments?
6. How are supporting arguments developed?
7. What kind of evidence is used?
8. What is the significance of the author’s thesis?
9. What does it help you to understand about the topic?
10. What are the implications or applications of the findings?
11. Is there anything that you find surprising or interesting from the article?
