Provide a well-articulated response to Regina’s DQ 2 response:
Regina’s Response: A supervisor and supervisee relationship is similar to that of a therapist and client. The American Counseling Association strongly advises that all therapist and clinical supervisors consider the risk and benefits of getting into any form of a dual relationship. In this example, Bhavan’s supervisor would be entering into a dual relationship, which although it may not seem like it at the time could cause harm to the client and or could also cause bias. The supervisor in this case should first look at the cultural elements behind the invitation, for example, some cultural or religions may consider a denial to be offensive. The supervisor should politely decline the invitation if there are no cultural issues and if attending could possibly cause harm.
