Description
In order to complete this course, you must submit a final research paper in the format they are required. Your topic and scope must be pre-approved by your Instructor before you begin it. It must have a problem-solution focus. The topic of the research paper for this course is based on the following:
- First, determine the title of your topic and narrowly define the scope (what you are going to cover) of your paper using ONE of the following general categories related to justice administration:
– Policing
– The Courts
– Corrections- You may want to pick a certain law enforcement agency, court, or correctional facility in your home state to study and use as the focus of your research.
- Or, you might want to take a narrow topic (subcategory) related to corrections, policing or the courts such as probation administration, prison budgets, technology.
- Another option is to select a topic from the text such as ethics in policing, or courts as organizations, or women’s needs in correctional facilities, or policymaking in justice administration.
- Then narrow your research further to meet a specific area in the subcategory that most interests you.
- Next, search the Internet and/or other library sources for specific information on your topic. You should have no fewer than 6 credible sources.
- Your paper should contain these headings:
- Introduction,
- Body of Research – Problem oriented and potential solutions,
- Summary of The Facts, and
- Conclusions – justification for a solution.
- The Body should contain approximately 70% of the paper. In the Conclusions section, you must give your original conclusions that you came to as a result of your studies. Why is the solution the best one?
