Today’s school leaders face various challenges and are constantly working effectively to implement changes to maintain a healthy school environment. When the environment is pleasant, everyone collaborates, explicit instructional learning is exemplified in every classroom, and this is a beautiful working environment. However, when the environment or leadership creates conflicts and puts extra stress and frustration on supporting staff this can create an unhealthy environment for working individuals. Nevertheless, effective principals should enhance their employee’s engagement and commitment toward the goals of the school by managing resources effectively and communicating regularly with teachers and parents to foster a positive relationship (Fourie, 2018). Every person has a unique way of sharing ideas, knowledge, and experiences that influence the mindset of others. People who are in leadership roles in a diverse society must understand and apply some basic principles of interpersonal relations in order to positively impact coworkers, staff, parents, students, and supporting staff in their schools. In addition, trust, respect, empathy, and value for others are essential components for building an effective working environment that is very beneficial to everyone.
On the other hand, when in situations that do not yield positive working conditions, choose to be an amazing changemaker leader with an unrelenting commitment, drive, and passion needed to improve educational outcomes for learners Dutta and Sahney (2017). Having a clear vision must be articulated, effectively communicated, and shared with all organizational stakeholders and supporting staff. In essence, good communication builds rapport and helps improve the quality of life. Without rapport, and a clear vision, misunderstandings, hard feelings, and various conflicts are the consequences.
