Description
- Overview
Many employers are universities are requiring applicants to provide a diversity, equity, and inclusion statement. DEI statements provide an opportunity for you to reflect on how you create a welcome and engaging class or supervisory style. As suggested by the readings this week, your DEI statement should be a framework for how your teaching and supervision will integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion. As you think about your DEI statement and how to craft it, consider the following:- What is your theory of teaching or supervision, and how does it align with DEI?
- If someone were to ask you about what you would do about the lack of diversity, equity, and inclusion, how might you answer this question?
- How would you set the expectation in your classroom or supervision setting that diversity and inclusion are important tenets of your teaching?
- How do you see your DEI statement aligning with CSWE concepts of diversity and inclusion in higher education?
