LAVC Cancer Staging and Grading Discussion

LAVC Cancer Staging and Grading Discussion

I need a peer review and also the question should be answered:

1. What is the difference between staging and grading when we are discussing cancer?

2.After watching Episode 1 we get an introduction into the framework of pathophysiology. Initially we are presented with the case that includes Mr. Jones who has come into the emergency room with a bad cough including wheezing and trouble breathing. Toni begins his assessment into what might be causing Mr. Jones symptoms. He asks a series of questions and with the answers provided he tries to narrow down the probable causes to the reason Mr. Jones is feeling. This is a great example of Etiology which is “in its most general definition, is the study of the causes or reasons for phenomena” (Banasik and Copstead, p.2) With the answers provided by Mr. Jones we can identify his risk factors which are smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and his past use of heroin. These risk factors increase the likelihood of disease for Mr. Jones. After undergoing a chest x-ray we find a mass within Mr. Jones lung and Toni begins to question whether the tumor can be malignant or not. Toni has identified that Mr. Jones has a disease and in this case lung cancer is the most likely. We see the development of a disease and this a reference to pathogenesis. Pathogenesis is ” development or evolution of a disease, from the initial stimulus to the ultimate expression of the manifestations of the disease.” (Banasik and Copstead, p.2) The clinical manifestations are trouble breathing, wheezing, bad cough, and past bloody sputum, white areas of the lung within the X-ray image, and the mass found in Mr. Jones lung. These are signs and symptoms present for Mr. Jones when assessed in the emergency room. Gathering all this information we can come to an understanding of the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical consequences with regards to Mr. Jones case. A suggestion of undergoing a biopsy to identify if the tumor is malignant is vital, if confirmed to be malignant treatments in the scope of radiation or chemical could be suggested by a physician to treat the cancer. It would also be told that Mr. Jones should forgo any smoking and drinking of alcohol for the foreseeable future in the effort to treat body.
