Description
Planning I: Preparation, Scope, Quality, and Risk
Getting Started
What do you do when risks are identified on a project? Do you ignore them? Do you find mitigation strategies to deal with the risks? According to the Association for Project Management (Naybour, 2015), there are four possible actions: Accept, Avoid, Transfer, or Reduce. Accept means do nothing. Avoid means eliminate the risk. Transfer means give the risk to another party. Reduce means put some mitigation strategy in place.
In life, trials come up. They are akin to risk in projects. Trials can throw you for a loop, wreak havoc, and cause suffering and turmoil. How do you deal with them? This is where perseverance and character come in. Romans 5:1–11 states that through suffering we gain perseverance, through perseverance character, and through character hope.

Background Information
Trials and tribulations are similar to risk when the risk is realized. Not all risk has to come to pass if mitigation and elimination strategies work. The risk of going to Hell can be mitigated by believing in Jesus, being saved, and living by faith (Romans 10:9). In fact, Jesus said the road to salvation and Heaven is narrow and not many people enter Heaven, but it is possible.
The scriptures that follow talk of suffering and faith. The writer of this devotion suffered greatly in a battle with cancer. The Lord was there the whole time, providing needed solace and strength through the tests, losing 30 pounds in one week, and arduous pain requiring morphine on doctor’s orders even to sleep. Our Lord is great all the time, and all the time our Lord is great. Our Lord will help us through difficult times.
