Description
Throughout the semester as you are read, watched, and listened to class material, in what ways are the historical patterns that you noticed reflected in issues, conflicts, injustices, etc. in our current moment? In either a paper or recorded presentation, use at least one video, one audio, and one text-based source from the syllabus to please address the following questions:
- What aspect of the current moment do believe reflects legacies and resurgences of the racial violence? Select 1 or, if necessary, 2 key issues or representative events.
- Example: Reproductive rights (aspect of current moment) and the overturning of Roe v. Wade (representative event).
- Which reading, video, or podcast can speak to the contexts around this problem?
- Example selection: “Role of Analogy in Race and Science,” “Race: The Stories We Tell,” and “The Real Black Panthers.”
- What specific historical patterns have you identified from the course content and your additional research and how do they connect to the aspects of the current moment you chose in the former question?
- Example pattern: The ways that intersections of race and gender are sometimes missing in the discussion of the issues that marginalized women and forced to confront.
- Using the three pieces of course content as a starting point, what reputable sources can you cite to argue your position on this issue? You should have a minimum of 12 references and up to 6 can be class readings, videos, or podcasts
- Try to be as synthetic as possible. Address the ways your different ideas, aspects, events, and factors are related to one another versus treating them separately in your argument.
