The global societal issue I have chosen to research for my week 5 Final Paper is International Drug Trafficking. I decided to go with this topic because it is something my contract deals with on a daily basis. We work hand in hand with CBP, ICE, and other government agencies all along the border as well as across the nation and are constantly seizing items with hidden compartments in some of the craziest places in vehicles – tires, gas tanks, floorboards, dashboards, steering wheel, seats, even additional compartments that weren’t there to begin with on vehicles, vessels and aircrafts, and have seen drugs try to come into the country via vegetables down in the southern part of Texas and mixed into honey in Florida and California. Although there were other topics that piqued my interest, I decided to go with drug trafficking since I deal with this on a daily basis.  One way to identify whether a source is scholarly is by identifying where the information came from. By utilizing the CRAAP test, this can help me narrow down articles that are relevant and current to my topic. By using scholarly sources, you know that the research is valid, and not someone’s viewpoint or personal opinion on the matter. I must also take into consideration the credibility of a journal or publisher.
