  As you navigate this final project, consider how you will apply the course learning outcomes to your chosen path or learning environment in the field of education.Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to do the following:
  • Identify how the multidisciplinary assessment process drives the planning and development of learning goals and individualized education programs.
  • Explain how the multidisciplinary team analyzes their assessment findings to identify students’ strengths and areas of need and communicates assessment results.
  • Distinguish the special educator’s role within the multidisciplinary assessment and evaluation process that contributes to the development of an appropriate program using the assessment to practice cycle.
  • Analyze historical perspectives; best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion; current legal standards; and landmark cases that impact current educational assessment and evaluation procedures.
  • Compare the characteristics of diverse assessment methods as a diagnostic tool used to evaluate, monitor, provide feedback, and guide goal development and classroom instruction for academic skills and social/emotional/behavioral abilities.
  • Examine safeguards that assure special education ethical evaluation and assessment practices do not discriminate on the basis of human difference, identity, or social group difference.

    For your final project, you will create a presentation slideshow (10 to 12 slides) with speaker’s notes and a screencast video explaining the requirements of the assessment and evaluation process and how to construct instructional recommendations based upon the data collected through the evaluation process. To do this, you will synthesize your own personal and professional experiences, current research, and the knowledge learned throughout this course. Your audience for this presentation is Manuel’s general education instructors, parents, administrators, and other team members.Use the instructions below for the content and written communication expectations for the presentation. Before submission, review your assignment using the Grading Rubric to insure it meets the expectations for distinguished performance. If you have questions about the assignment or the rubric, please contact your instructor before the due date.Part One: PowerPoint Presentation with Speaker’s NotesIn addition to the above general requirements, your presentation must contain the slide information detailed below with speaker’s notes.     • Create a title slide with the following information; no speaker’s notes required on this slide (1 slide):
      • Title of Project
      • Student’s name
      • Course name and number
      • Instructor’s name
      • Date submitted
    • Construct a statement of the purpose for the presentation (one slide).
    • Synthesize the historical perspectives, current legal and ethical standards, and landmark cases that impacted the assessment and evaluation procedures considered for assessment and in the case of Manuel (one slide).
    • Describe the multidisciplinary assessment process that drove the planning and development of Manuel’s individualized education program, highlighting the assessment to practice cycle (one to two slides).
    • Explain how the special educator’s role within the multidisciplinary assessment and evaluation process contributes to the development of an appropriate program, including information received through the Interview of an Assessment Professional (one slide).
    • Summarize how the multidisciplinary team analyzed assessment findings to identify Manuel’s strengths and areas of need (one slide).
    • Compare the characteristics of the diverse assessment methods used as diagnostic tools to evaluate, monitor, and guide the development of Manuel’s individualized education program, including the classroom instruction strategies implemented by the teachers (one slide).
    • Critique the safeguards that assure special education ethical evaluation and assessment practices do not discriminate on the basis of human difference, identity, or social group difference (including but not limited to race, ethnicity, creed, color, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual identity, socio-economic status, language, culture, national origin, religion or spirituality, age, or disability) (one slide).
    • Conclude with recommendations of the next steps for Manuel, including two to three recommendations received through the Interview of an Assessment Professional (one to two slides).
