Read the scenarios below and then follow the instructions beneath the scenarios to complete the assignment.

Scenario 1:

Debbie is shopping at the local mall and walks into an electronics store. While walking down an aisle, Debbie puts several computer games in her purse. She then starts walking toward the exit. A store employee stops Debbie as she is walking toward the exit and asks to look inside Debbie’s purse. Debbie’s reply is, “I have a gun. Let me go or I will use the gun.”

Scenario 2:

Jane is stopped by a local law enforcement officer for speeding. The officer smells a strong odor of burnt marijuana when Jane rolls down her window. The officer also sees an item on the front passenger seat that looks like a pipe or device to smoke marijuana. The officer searches the car and finds a clear plastic bag on the backseat. The bag contains a powdery-white substance that tests positive for heroin. It is later weighed and is recorded as 4 grams. Jane is arrested and taken into custody.

• Assume that the officer lawfully searched the vehicle and seized the evidence.

Scenario 3:

Mary’s 16-year-old son plays on a community traveling soccer team. The soccer team holds various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to cover the team’s various expenses. Mary is the treasurer of the team. Her duties include receiving and depositing money raised through team fundraisers and player contributions. She has access to the soccer team’s checking account.Throughout the last year, Mary has been withdrawing money from the checking account of the soccer team and depositing the money into her own personal checking account. As of the current date, Mary has transferred $1500 from the soccer team checking account into her own personal checking account.
After you have reviewed the scenarios, locate the Minnesota statutes regarding the following crimes:

• Based on the sentencing information in the statute, is this crime a misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor or felony? Support your answer, include any specific subdivision(s) and clause(s) when applicable, as well as any pertinent scenario facts.

2.Discuss the similarities and differences between the elements of the crimes: robbery, burglary, and theft.
Include APA formatted in-text citations and references for the applicable Minnesota statute(s) as well as any other sources you relied on when composing your assignment.

  Scenario

  Camden walked into Malachai’s front yard and grabbed a smartphone that was sitting on his outdoor lawn chair. Then she went around to Malachai’s backyard where there was a storage shed. Camden entered the storage shed and took an iPad that was on the seat of a lawn mower. As Camden was walking from the backyard toward the front of the house to leave, she noticed Malachai pulling into his driveway, so Camden jumped into the bushes next to Malachai’s house to hide.As Malachai was pulling into his driveway, he saw Camden walking from the backyard of his house carrying something in her hands, but he was not sure what she had. Malachai was scared that someone would be walking from his backyard. Malachai stopped his car in the middle of his driveway, remained inside his car, locked the car doors, called 911 to report “a suspicious person” in his yard, and waited patiently in his car until the police showed up. When police arrived, they were able to arrest Camden who was still hiding in the bushes next to Malachai’s house. At the time of arrest, Camden was holding a smartphone and an iPad.
