Description
PROJECT DETAILS
You will be creating a PowerPoint presentation based on Hypothesis testing that you have done on sample data sources, these can be ones that you have created or researched, for example, ERA of baseball players in MLB for 2020 season. You will need to present to me the following:
One-Sample Test
Data Set – you will need at least 20 samples. Explain why you have chosen this data and why you will be testing it.
Create your Null and Alternative hypotheses, this will be up to you if you going to test equal greater than or less than
Create your own level of significance
Give me the Mean, Mode, Median, Variance, and Standard Deviation of your sample data
What will be the critical value of your test data, should you use z value or t value, if it is t value make sure to include degrees of freedom calculation
Test your data and what result did you receive, are you going to reject or not reject the null hypothesis
Interpret what these results mean.
Two-Sample Test
2 Data Sets – you will need at least 20 samples. Can be based on your first sample test and add another one to compare or start two new data sets, explain why you are comparing new data to previous or if new data why did you choose the data and testing. Try to keep the data independent from each other.
Create your Null and Alternative hypotheses, this will be up to you if you going to test equal greater than, or less than, and if the means will be equal or no difference
Create your own level of significance
Give me the Mean, Mode, Median, Variance, and Standard Deviation of your sample data
What will be the critical value of your test data, should you use z value or t value, if you use a t-value make sure you include the degrees of freedom calculation
Test your data and what result did you receive, are you going to reject or not reject the null hypothesis
Interpret what these results mean.
ANOVA Test
Create a three or more treatment data set. Where your size can be from 10 or more. Can be based on prior. Explain about the data and why we are using it.
State your null and alternative hypothesis
Select level of significance
Determine Degrees of Freedom and your critical value for the F- distribution
Will need to know the Treatment Variation, Random Variation, and Total Variation. How did you calculate them.
Provide an ANOVA table in the PowerPoint.
Test your data and tell if you are going to reject the null or not reject the null hypothesis
Interpret what the results mean
Linear Regression
Create a two-sample data set with 20 samples each, where one set is dependent on the other set. For example, Copiers Sold are dependent on how many Sales calls are made.
From that data set create a scatter diagram stating which data is your independent and which is dependent
What is the correlation coefficient of your data set and interpret the results.
State your null and alternative hypothesis for testing for the correlation in the population
Select the level of significance and use the t-value, so show how to compute t-value and the degrees of freedom
Compute the t statistic and make your decisions on the null hypothesis
Interpret the results
Next, calculate the general form of linear regression, with calculating the slope and y-intercept
Create your null and alternative hypothesis for testing the slope of the population
Use the same level of significance from the correlation, and use t-value to determine critical value
Calculate the test for the slope
Make your decision to reject or not to reject the null
Interpret the results
PROJECT GUIDELINES
This will be a Powerpoint project with data to interpret. I will be looking at your explanation and how you presented the data. Due to time limitations, we will make the project smaller.
You need to pick from the following:
Either One-Sample Test or Two-Sample Test
AND
Either ANOVA Test or Linear Regression
So your Powerpoint should have a combo of either One-Sample Test and ANOVA Test, One-Sample Test and Linear Regression, Two-Sample Test and ANOVA Test, or Two-Sample Test and Linear Regression. Once again you get to pick the combo.
