Description
The Strategic Plan and the Organizational Structure are two internal managerial documents that can tell you a lot about a business, especially a non profit organization like a museum.
The organizational structure tells you which departments are bigger and how the power is spread across the organization. It hints at where the money is spent by sheer number of employee per department (large departments are usually more expensive than organization where one person wears 3 hats in their title for example.)
Usually, strategic plans are made public, but not always! You may have to dig to find a museum that makes this document public. And you may have to dig deeper to find a GOOD one you are capable of understanding.
In your post you should include the document or a link to the document.
I would like you to read the information you find and make educated guess and evaluation of what these documents tell you about the organization, their values, and their leadership structure. I don’t want a summary, I want an ANALYSIS and CRITIQUE of what you are reading. Be sure to quote the document sentences that lead you to your assumption and analysis.
I would like to hear your view on the leadership structure, the goals and how they are planned to be achieved. How confident are you as per the success? As an employee, would you believe in this plan or does it sound like all fluff? Would the plan help guide your decisions and actions or again, is this just motivational?
Strategic plans should be goal oriented but they should be achievable and form a roadmap to guide decision-making and investment for employees in leadership roles.
Are the document you are reading helping with that?
