In the transition from aspiring nursing student to graduate nurse signifies that the individual has gain the upmost advanced knowledge needed for to applies their skills in the hospital setting. Of course, like any occupation involving the aspects of healthcare, each healthcare personnel must abide to a code of ethics in the clinical setting to avoid any consequential actions. The American Nurses Association, or ANA, has developed a set of code of ethics to ensure the nurses’ make clinical decision that are beneficial than harmful. The nursing profession must remain true to patient care while advocating for patient rights to self-identify needs and cultural norms (Geiger, 2021). The two provisions that may help me during this transition period would have to be provisions 2 and 3. Provision 2 makes a deep clarification that regardless of if the patient is individual or in a group, they are still a patient who deserve the same health rights as anyone despite race, religion, or ethnicity. Provision 3 emphasizes primarily to the patient which makes sense because at the end of the day, the patients well-being, rights, and safety is priority. These are beneficial when applying it to clinical practice because being a nurse is not only about respecting diverse cultures and having compassion to their work but to think of the patient as a whole. Adopting these aspects can ensure the public that the healthcare personnel understand the guidelines when it comes to advocacy, privacy, and responsibility when delivering patient care.

· What two provisions in the ANA’s Code of Ethics for Nurses may help you in this transition?

· One of the provisions that will help me in my transition is to know that nurses owe the same duties to themselves as they do to others. This essentially means, as a nurse we are dedicated to taking care of patients and providing them with the best care possible, therefore we must do the same for ourselves. If we do not provide ourselves with the best care or take care of ourselves then we will fall ill or not feel well enough to take care of our patients. This is very important, especially now during the pandemic because we experienced short staffing, not because the nurses did not want to take care of themselves but because they were physically unable to. We did not have the proper PPE and lack of education because of the sudden virus which causes my nurses and medical personnel to fall ill, causing a severe amount of patients to have limited care (Ana Code of ethics for nurses, 2021).

· The other provision that help will help in my transition states the nurse promotes advocate for, and promotes patient safety and the protection of their rights and health. This provision is essentially describing HIPPA. This is very important to understand because as nurses we are required to protect our patients at all costs. The patient’s safety and right to privacy is extremely important (Ana Code of ethics for nurses, 2021).

· Expand on your chosen provisions and describe how adopting them into your clinical practice will help you to be successful

· These will help me be successful because they are very important practices we see that need to be followed daily. Although the other provisions are very important, I feel these two are one of the most important ones. Not understanding or following these provision are very dangerous in practice because they can put a patient’s life at risk as well as your license. These are provisions that are simple to follow as long as you understand them
