For example, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists are all part of the patient care team, but will all bring different knowledge and skills to contribute to a common plan of care. With such a diversity of members contributing and influencing care in the performance-driven team, it is also imperative that members have mutual respect, be active listeners, and be open-minded (Mayo & Woolley, 2016).

Intrinsic motivation (IM) is an individual’s internal motivation to perform to meet personal or organizational goals because of the personal satisfaction achieved from the job or obtaining those goals (Baljoon et al., 2018).
